Report on faisability of Minibee
This is a feasibility study of a VTOL multicopter intended for medical use, transportable in an aeronautical LD3 container. The project's objectives include assessing the Mini-Bee's structural resistance in different critical scenarios, developing global control laws, and determining an optimal rotor configuration for ascent and stationary yaw flight. The current configuration has 36 motors, and the team has focused on evaluating the low structure (fuselage and landing gear) and the high structure (36 rotors) separately.
The team used a PFD under Excel to determine the behavior of the Mini-Bee in different flight modes, with the goal of defining an optimal rotor configuration and engine speed control for each mode. They also tested different rotor inclinations to minimize parasitic rolling and pitching moments.
The team proposed a new structure to improve the resistance of the fuselage and landing gear. They designed a prototype on CATIA, evaluated its resistance in various situations, and concluded that adding two reinforcing beams to the corner of the entrance door would help to reduce the stresses.
Finally, the team evaluated different configurations for stationary yaw flight and chose a triangular configuration with central rotor inclinations to generate equivalent moments in both directions.
